Maayong Adlaw!
As an international student, one of my struggles are finding what to cook everyday. Here is a recipe inspired by one of my favorite menus in Mcdonald’s Philippines, chicken ala king.
I found this recipe on tiktok and there were a couple. Here’s how I did it:
Ingredients:
Batter Ingredients:
500 g chicken fillet
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup panko crumbs
egg
black pepper
paprika
salt
1/2 tbsp garlic powder
Sauce Ingredients:
1tbsp All-purpose flour
360 ML Evaporated Milk
250 ML Cooking Cream
1 can of Sweet Corn
4tbsp of Butter
1 Carrot
Parsley
Salt
Black Pepper
Garlic
Onion
1/2 of chicken broth
- Make your wet and dry batter.
For the wet batter, mix egg, paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
For the dry batter, mix flour, panko crumbs, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
One by one coat your chicken breast to the wet batter first, then dry batter. I coat the chicken breasts once since I prefer the batter to be thin. - Fry your chicken until golden brown
- Add butter in your pan, and saute your garlic and onion until aromatic. As a Filipino, I loooove adding so much garlic to my dishes lol. Saute until fragrant.
- Add the carrots, and saute for about 2-3 mins.
- Add your flour to the mixture and combine
- Add your evaporated milk, and then your cooking cream.
- Add your chicken broth, chopped parsley, salt and pepper
- Mix until sauce is thick.
- Set your sauce aside, add butter to the pan again, and mix your sweet corn with salt and pepper to taste.
Put your fried chicken breasts on the plate, add your sauce on the top and put your corn to the side and done! You now have your very own chicken ala-king!
This dish is very good with rice (to be fair, everything is good with rice for us HAHA)
Let me know what you think about this recipe!
Ahhhh, I love a good recipe, I have so many, and I loved cooking, then my husband became allergic to gluten and wheat, and now I struggle for inspiration as using Gluten Free does not give the same results 🙁
But, I will eventually get a good repertoire of GF recipes again I hope!
